Fraunholz Lebkuchen Elise Tin
The Legend of Elise - According to legend, the Elisen Lebkuchen were named after Elise, the daughter of a Nuremberg gingerbread baker. The story says that the gingerbread baker loved his daughter very much. One day his beloved daughter grew ill and no doctor could help her. The baker was deeply distressed but in his despair he thought of a special cure. As a gingerbread baker he knew how valuable oriental spices were so he baked a specially-spiced lebkuchen just for his Elise. He used no flour and only the finest ingredients. Elise gained strength and grew healthy. Since then, the finest gingerbread bears her name.
This beautiful tin designed by the family owned and operated Fraunholz bakery is a tribute to the young Elise - the namesake of the scrumptious Lebkuchen inside.
