Wendt & Kühn Grünhainichen Angel - Angel in Toy Village, Sitting

This delightful Wendt & Kühn Grünhainichen Angel sits peacefully on a wooden stool, holding a traditional splinter box called a Spandose —an Erzgebirge specialty made from wafer-thin sheets of wood. Resting on the box are a tiny lathe-carved Christmas tree and toy house, along with a small wooden horse crafted using the historic Reifendrehen technique, a unique toy-making method developed in nearby Seiffen. These miniature treasures reflect the rich folk art traditions of Germany’s Ore Mountains.

As a sitting figure, this angel adds charming height variation and visual texture to any Wendt & Kühn collection. Finished with the iconic eleven white dots on her green wings, she is a timeless piece of handcrafted artistry.

Named for the town in Germany where these precious figures are made, the Grünhainichen Angels were first sketched and created in 1923 by founder Grete Wendt. Each Angel has exactly eleven white dots on their little green wings – their famous trademark the world over.
