Christmas 2025 – What’s New, What’s Different, and What’s Coming Soon

Hello friends,

The calendar may still say August, but here at Gingerbread World, Christmas is already in the air. This is the time of year when our little shop starts to hum with excitement—and this year is no different. Well… actually, it’s a little different.

We’re feeling that same childlike joy for the season ahead, but we’re also approaching it with a touch more care. The market feels uncertain, and changes in trade policies—especially between Canada and the U.S.—mean we’ve been a bit more conservative with our purchases. But please believe me when I say: our 2025 Christmas collection is still fabulous. You’ll find the same uniquely European treasures we’ve always loved bringing to you—Lebkuchen, pastries, confections, Advent Calendars, ornaments, folk art, décor, and gifts—each one chosen with you in mind.

What’s New

This past winter, I travelled to Germany for the Christmas World trade show in Frankfurt. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with our longtime suppliers, meet some new ones, and see our products in person before they make their way into your homes. My trip also took me to the headquarters of Lebkuchen Schmidt (where the aroma alone was worth the flight!) and to the magical workshops of Seiffen, where artisans continue to craft the wooden folk art that has been part of Erzgebirge tradition for centuries.

We’re also welcoming something new from a little further north—Denmark’s IB Laursen. Their Christmas Tealight Village, candle holders, and festive linens bring a cozy Scandinavian charm that I think you’ll love.

What’s Different

Some things will look a little different in 2025. For one, we won’t be printing a Christmas catalog this year. This was a tough decision—our catalog has always been such a joyful way to kick off the season—but it’s a big investment, and given both the uncertain economy and feedback from customers about paper waste, we’re putting those resources into other parts of the business. Rest assured, every single item you’d have seen in the catalog is already beautifully displayed on our website.

Another change is our ability to sell to our American customers. With trade policy shifts and fluctuating tariffs, we’ll be able to ship to the U.S. only until late August. After that, we’ll pause U.S. orders until we know whether we can do so economically. I wish this wasn’t the case, but as a small company, we have to make careful choices to keep the lights twinkling for seasons to come.

What’s Coming Soon

Our Christmas Collections open for pre-order on August 28, and some shipments from our European partners have already arrived. If you see a “Coming Soon” button in the webshop, it simply means the item is on its way—not that it’s sold out.

We’ve worked hard to curate a season that feels magical, even in uncertain times. I hope you’ll browse, dream, and start planning for a Christmas full of warmth, tradition, and beauty.

With love,
Tamara
