Schmidt introduced this new recipe for the larger Stollen in 2022. Customers enjoyed the even-more-butter in the dough that makes this Stollen a little more like the Dresdner Stollen and requested it in this 500 gram size.
Lots of small candied orange peel pieces make the stollen juicy and fruity. 14 % butter in the dough gives it its very finest taste.
Stollen is a traditional German bread usually enjoyed during the Christmas season. Also called Weihnachtsstollen or Christstollen. Not overly sweet, this dense yeasted loaf is full of dried fruit, citrus, nuts and spices and generously dusted in icing sugar. Stollen could (and should!) be eaten any time of the day – breakfast, coffee break or dessert!
