Specialty Lebkuchen - Gluten Free, Vegan and Organic

Gingerbread World has brought delicious German gingerbread to Canada for more than 25 years - authentic Lebkuchen from Nuremberg. Now we are thrilled to have found a bakery in that same famous city that is Gluten Free and bakes wonderfully delicious and nut-filled cookies for Christmas.
Gingerbread World Lebkuchen Canada - Gluten Free German Gingerbread
Fraunholz is a family owned and run bakery located in Nuremberg's Old Town - a short walk from the famous Hauptmarkt square. They've been baking scrumptious gingerbread for over a hundred years. I love that when I email the bakery it's Michael Fraunholz - fourth generation owner - that answers my questions.

Gingerbread World Lebkuchen Canada - Gluten Free German GingerbreadFraunholz has always been a wheat-free facility and uses no artificial preservatives making their cookies suitable for people with food sensitivities. Gingerbread World offers their Gluten Free, Vegan and Organic assortments.

Gluten Free

We import the premium quality Elisen Gluten Free Lebkuchen in glazed, chocolate glazed, assorted and Konfekt. Fraunholz pumps up the nut content in their GF cookies to replace the wheat.

Vegan Lebkuchen - Not available in 2022

After tasting the quality of the GF cookies we added the Vegan Assortment to our offering in 2019. Customers had been asking for several years for a Vegan option to give as gifts to family members. Michael and his staff put a lot of effort into perfecting the Vegan line and we are got rave reviews after last Christmas.

Organic Lebkuchen - Not available in 2022

We figured that Fraunholz's GF and Vegan offerings were so good that we might as well make it a hat trick and bring in the Organic Lebkuchen as well.

I have visited the Fraunholz bakery twice in the past several years. It is a small but growing business. Michael and his team are a pleasure to work with and they seem to genuinely like each other and what they do. Ingredients are still mixed by hand and icing applied by brush. There is a small shop at the front of the bakery where you can walk in and buy fresh Lebkuchen and breathe in the scrumptious smells of cookies baking. If it isn't already obvious...I really like these people and I love their cookies!
