Gingerbread World is Closed Now until August when the New 2018 Christmas Collections are Unveiled

The Christmas Season is over - the Lebkuchen is eaten and the ornaments and Nativity Scenes packed away. And we here at Gingerbread World are enjoying a bit a break before we start preparing for next Christmas.

But before very long I'll be back at my desk pouring through catalogs and websites looking for more delicious treats and beautiful gifts, Christmas ornaments and Nativities from Europe.

This is going to be an exciting year for me - I turn 50 and I'm using that fact as an excuse to do some travelling with my business! First is a short trip to the Canadian Gift Fair in Toronto where I will be meeting with current suppliers and hoping to find some new ones in order to add wonderful new items to our shop.

And much more exciting, I will be travelling to Germany this summer to meet with the good people at Lebkuchen Schmidt and Fraunholz Lebkuchen to plan for the Christmas Season. I also get to journey with my middle daughter to the Erzgebirge region of Germany - the villages around Seiffen in Saxony - to visit the studios and workshops where our handcrafted Smokers, Pyramids and Nutcrackers are made.

My 16 year old daughter is doing a German Exchange program through her school and staying in the home of the fabulous young woman that we hosted last Fall. She will be living in a small city not far from Hamburg (at least not far in the Canadian understanding of "far"!!).

I am excited to start working again on putting together the Gingerbread World Catalog for next year. We are planning to have even more Advent Calendars, some new lines of German chocolates, more beautiful wooden ornaments and figures and of course all the new Chests and Tins from Lebkuchen Schmidt.

The Gingerbread World Wooden Gift Chests were a bit of a surprise success for us this past season so we are on the look out for new chest ideas and more yummy treats to put inside them!
