Lebkuchen Schmidt Cookbook - Creative Recipes with Famous Nuremberg Gingerbread
Lebkuchen Schmidt is the premiere baker of traditional Lebkuchen - in Nuremberg and the world. Schmidt creates an array of cookies and pastries in the hundreds of years old tradition of German gingerbread. And now they are sharing with us some creative and scrumptious recipes in their new Cookbook along with beautiful pictures and fascinating interviews with the chefs and bloggers that created them.
The Cookbook is entirely in German - but that's not much of a problem for Google Translate! And Gingerbread World will be offering some of the recipes and interviews in English in coming Blog posts.

Cheesecake, Tiramisu and chocolate tarts sound wonderful but not so surprising. But I am excited about the Lebkuchen-filled Ravioli and Lebkuchen encrusted Beef Roast!
Three Chefs are featured in the first part of the cookbook all from Nuremberg or the smaller cities around Nuremberg. Although they cook in traditional Franconian styles (Franconia is the German state in which Nuremberg resides) these chefs love fresh, high quality ingredients and trying new things. And they have come up with some really innovative recipes incorporating Lebkuchen.
Chef Sebastian Kunkel runs the kitchen in the Zirbelstube Restaurant & Hotel just south of Nuremberg. The business is in its second generation and Kunkel and his wife Susanne run this gorgeous little hotel. Kunkel's recipe for Ravioli includes a filling made with ricotta, Nut Elisen and bacon!
Check back in the coming weeks of 2018 to read more about the Lebkuchen Schmidt Cookbook.
