The illustrations on Schmidt's Festive Chest (on every chest actually) change each year but the big Festive Chest always features an illustration of medieval Nurmeberg - the city famous for Lebkuchen. Walls that I have had the pleasure of exploring during my visits to this beautiful city.
The 2020 Chest features the works of 18th century artist and engraver Johann Adam Delsenbach whose illustrations of the city of Nuremberg are considered valuable sources for research on architecture and the history of the city. The top of the chest features the "Prospect vor dem Vestnertor zu Nurnberg anno 1748" - scene in front of the Vestner Gate in the Old City walls.
The Lebkuchen Chests, Tins and boxes arrive in our Winnipeg Canada warehouse in late October and we immediately start shipping them out to customers all over North America. BUT...they are available to PRE-ORDER starting August 26 so that you can reserve your Chest before inventory runs out because we only get one shipment in each year.
Continue your family's Lebkuchen tradition this year or start a new tradition of sharing yummy Lebkuchen and German Christmas pastries in a beautiful metal gift chest.
Cheers!
