Small Things, Big Difference: The Story Behind En Gry & Sif Felted Wool Creations
There’s a quiet kind of magic in the felted wool pieces from En Gry & Sif.
At first glance, they’re simply charming—soft wool florals that never wilt, tiny animals full of personality, ornaments that feel both playful and beautifully crafted. But spend a little more time with them, and something deeper begins to come through.
Each piece carries a story.
Not just of design—but of hands, of skill, of opportunity.
Where Craft Meets Purpose
En Gry & Sif is a Danish design company built on a simple but powerful idea: that beautiful things can also create meaningful change.
All of their felted wool pieces are handmade in Nepal by skilled artisans—most of them women—using traditional techniques like needle felting and fine embroidery. Many of these artisans come to the craft with no formal training. They learn from the ground up, developing skills that grow over time into real expertise.
And with those skills comes something even more important: stability.
A steady income.
A sense of independence.
A way to support a family.
For some, the work happens in small workshops. For others, it happens at home—where knitting and detailing can be done alongside caring for children. It’s a model that respects the rhythm of real life.
So when you hold one of these pieces, you’re not just holding wool shaped into something lovely.
You’re holding time, intention, and the quiet building of a better everyday life.
Thoughtful Design, Down to the Smallest Detail

There’s a reason these pieces feel so special.
In recent years, En Gry & Sif has invested not only in design—but in the development of the artisans themselves. New techniques, more intricate detailing, and evolving collections all serve a dual purpose: creating something beautiful for the home, and creating opportunities for the people making them.
It shows.
A simple stem becomes something sculptural.
A tiny ornament reveals layers of detail you didn’t notice at first glance.
Even the smallest figure feels considered—never rushed.
These are pieces that reward attention.
A Softer Way to Decorate

The felted wool florals have become a quiet favourite.
A few stems in a vase or jug can create a full, textural arrangement—soft reds, dusty pinks, gentle blues, warm neutrals. They bring colour and life to a space without ever demanding attention.
And unlike fresh flowers, they don’t fade.
They stay.
The ornaments carry that same spirit—small, tactile, and full of character. Easy to mix into seasonal decorating, but just as at home year-round.
Safe, Natural, and Made to Be Enjoyed
Many of the pieces in the En Gry & Sif collection are also designed with children in mind.
Their toy items are CE marked, meaning they’ve been tested to meet European safety standards (EN71). These tests cover everything from physical safety (no sharp edges or small detachable parts) to flammability and the use of safe, non-toxic dyes.
They’re made from 100% natural wool, a material that behaves very differently from synthetics—naturally resistant to flame and soft to the touch.

Why We Chose En Gry & Sif
I first came across En Gry & Sif at a trade show in Denmark in February 2023.

I’ll admit—part of the initial excitement was the idea that I had found a Scandinavian-designed line (which, naturally, meant future “business trips” to Scandinavia might be required!). But the real reason I chose to bring it into the shop was much more grounded.
The craftsmanship stood out right away—there’s a softness and precision to these pieces that’s hard to miss. But even more compelling was the story behind the company: founded by women (sisters, in fact), and built with a clear intention to make the world a little better through the way they do business.
That combination—beautiful design with real purpose—is rare.
And it’s why I placed that first order.
It’s also why I’ve continued ordering ever since. Beyond the products themselves, the team behind En Gry & Sif has been exactly what you’d hope for—fun, friendly, and thoughtful in every interaction.
More Than Decoration

It’s easy to see these as small decorative pieces.
But they’re not really small.
They’re a reminder that design can be thoughtful. That craftsmanship can still be human. That the things we bring into our homes can carry meaning—not just style.
At Gingerbread World, we’ve gathered a wide selection of felted wool ornaments and florals from En Gry & Sif—each one a small expression of that bigger story.
And once you know the story, they’re hard to see the same way again.
