Original Dresdner Stollen Bites Gift Tin
Festive half round metal tin filled with Stollen Bites - individually wrapped pieces of traditional German Christmas bread. Four flavours of Stollen - marzipan, almond, nut and baked apple.
The tin is shaped like a Schwibbogen - a half round wooden candle arch traditionally made by hand in Germany's Ore Mountains (or Erzgebirge). To this day people place the lit arches in their windows during the Holiday Season.
The illustration on the tin celebrates the Dresden Striezelmarkt which is the world's oldest Christmas Market. Since 1434 people have flocked to the city centre to buy gifts and treats while sipping Glühwein (mulled wine) and enjoying Dresden's most famous Dresdner Stollen also called Striezel.
Dresden Christstollen which is also fondly known to the people of Dresden as 'Striezel' is a piece of cultural history, a centuries-old baking tradition. A unique combination of select ingredients are the secret behind the Dresdner stollen taste. Stollen is a rich, sweet cake filled with fruits and nuts.
