The Christmas Lebkuchen Treasures Inside the Festive Chest 2017
The Festive Chest is always Lebkuchen Schmidt's largest Chest and it is always packed to the brim with Lebkuchen and pastries. The contents change a little bit from year to year and the beautiful illustration on the Chest is new every year (read about this year's illustration on our Blog).
The Festive Chest 2016 includes 13 types of Lebkuchen and traditional German pastries. Following are a few more details about the types of yummy treats inside the Chest:
Lebkuchen of the Year - Every year Lebkuchen Schmidt develops a new recipe for a special Lebkuchen cookie. This being their 90th Anniversary Schmidt has simply taken its centuries-old recipe for the classic nut cookie up several notches with the Meisterwerk 90 - read more about 2017's Lebkuchen of the Year in our Blog.
Premium Kaiser-Elisen-Lebkuchen - the highest quality of Lebkuchen because of the high nut oil content.
Premium Elisen-Lebkuchen assorted bars - A compact box of Elisen Lebkuchen with a higher nut oil content. The package contains both glazed and chocolate cookies - a little something for everyone!
White Lebkuchen decorated with almonds - white gingerbread in a rectangular shape decorated with almonds.
The Festive Tin 2017 filled with assorted choice Lebkuchen - I love the deep red in this embossed tin and the illustration of the historic Nuremberg building. Lebkuchen Schmidt's bakeries are in the city of Nuremberg and Lebkuchen has a long history in that city. Some claim that Lebkuchen is only authentic if it comes from Nuremberg - what do you think?!
Fairy tale House filled with chocolate coated Lebkuchen hearts and a fairytale - a cute little cardboard house filled with chocolate covered Lebkuchen Hearts (personal favorite!) with a little jam in the middle. With a real fairy tale inside - written in German of course but there's always Google Translate!
Nuremberg Christstollen - Stollen is a dense loaf of yeast cake (or bread) filled with dried fruit and nuts. A very popular traditional German Christmas pastry and good for sharing. Read our Blog post about Nuremberg ChristStollen and the various types Gingerbread World is offering for Christmas 2017.
Spicy Speculatius Biscuits - A favorite in our household - my kids can eat a box of these yummy little biscuits in one very short sitting! Spicy, crunchy cookies that are made in a mold and take on the details of the illustration in the mold. Often times claimed by Scandinavians, these are popular all over Europe.
Dürer Bread with milk chocolate base - Lebkuchen Schmidt introduced these biscuits a couple of years ago and they were a hit! Sweet yummy cookie with a rich milk chocolate base.
Nuremberg Cinnamon Stars - A chewy little cookie made with hazelnuts and almonds, a little lemon peel and, of course, cinnamon.
Nuremberg Butter Biscuits - We all know that butter makes things better and it definitely did with these Christmas shaped cookies.
Nuremberg Vanilla Crescents - We love these so much we write a whole Blog article just about them - read it here.
And a special gift inside the 2017 Festive Chest is the decorative metal plaque with an illustration of a town crier in Old Nuremberg calling the citizens of the city to their homes!
So much good stuff inside the Lebkuchen Schmidt Festive Chest. Order yours for Christmas - or have it sent on your behalf to friends and family anywhere in the world.
Best of the Season to you!
